We take you to places we've eaten at for years where every dish on the menu is halal-certified, utensils stay separate, and you'll never need to ask mid-bite.
Gluten-Free
Rice and rice noodles are the backbone of Malaysian cooking — good news for coeliacs. The hidden risk is soy sauce, which appears in almost every stir-fry and marinade and nearly always contains wheat. We know exactly which stalls use tamari or no soy at all, and which dishes are safe without modifications.
Vegan
Malaysia's Indian and Chinese Buddhist communities have kept plant-based cooking alive here for generations. The complication: dishes labelled 'vegetable' often get a splash of fish sauce or shrimp paste for depth. We know which stalls cook without any of that, and where the flavour comes from chillies, tamarind, and forty years of technique.
Jain
Jain dietary requirements — no root vegetables, no underground-grown produce, no five pungent roots — are rarely accommodated at mainstream restaurants. We've found the dedicated Indian vegetarian kitchens in KL's Brickfields neighbourhood where Jain thalis are a standard menu item, prepared on dedicated equipment. Flexible Jain guests are welcome on our regular tours; strict requirements need a quick chat with us first.

What can I expect on a food tour?
You'll visit 8-10 food stalls over 4-5 hours, tasting a variety of dishes. Your guide will share stories about the food, culture, and history. Small groups (max 9 people), local prices, no tourist traps.
Can I take photos during the tour?
Absolutely! We encourage photos. Most vendors are happy to be photographed — they're proud of their food. We'll also take group photos and can help you capture the perfect shot.
How much walking is involved?
Approximately 3km over 4-5 hours, at a leisurely pace. We stop frequently to eat and listen to stories. If you have mobility concerns, let us know — we can adjust the route.
What happens if it rains?
Tours run rain or shine! Malaysia's rain is intense but brief (usually 15-20 minutes). We have covered areas at most stops and will adjust the route if needed. Bring a light rain jacket just in case.
When will I receive confirmation?
We typically confirm within 3 hours during business hours (9am-8pm). For last-minute bookings (within 24 hours), we'll do our best to accommodate — just WhatsApp us directly.
What's the minimum group size for private tours?
Private tours are available for groups of 4 or more. For couples or solo travelers, join-in tours are a great option. Contact us for custom group arrangements.
I have food allergies. Is it safe?
We take allergies seriously. Let us know when booking, and we'll brief all vendors. However, hawker stalls handle multiple ingredients, so we can't guarantee 100% allergen-free. Those with severe allergies should consult us first.
Is the food spicy?
Malaysian food can be spicy, but we adjust for your group. Most dishes have complex flavors beyond just heat. Let us know your spice tolerance, and we'll guide you accordingly.
Are there toilet breaks during the tour?
Yes! We start near a toilet facility and have breaks at locations with clean restrooms. We recommend using the toilet before the tour starts, but we'll ensure opportunities during the 4-5 hours.
Is there parking near the meeting point?
Yes, there's parking near all our meeting points. We'll send you detailed directions with parking information after booking. In KL and Penang, Grab (ride-sharing) is also very convenient and affordable.
