Tailored Experiences
A Tour That Doesn't Exist Yet
We design it from scratch around your group. New stalls, new neighbourhoods, new stories — built around what you want to eat, see, and experience.

Looking for a private tour where it's just your group on one of our existing routes? See Private Tours. Want something designed from scratch just for you? You're in the right place.
Why go tailored
The best tours are the ones that couldn't exist until someone asked for them.
Designed from scratch
No template. No standard route. We build the tour around what you tell us — the foods you're curious about, the neighbourhoods you want to see, the pace that works for your group.
Refined on WhatsApp
After you enquire, your guide reaches out to discuss the plan. You go back and forth until it feels right. Nothing is set until you're happy with it.
Focused on your group
Return visitors who want new stalls. Teams who want a proper night out after a conference. Families with specific dietary needs. Every tailored tour is different because every group is different.

Tour Inspiration
Every tailored tour is unique, but here are some directions we've explored with past groups.
Market to Table
Shop at the wet market with your guide, then cook what you bought at a local kitchen. Eat what you made.
After Dark
KL's night markets and hawker stalls after sunset. Different stalls, different energy, different dishes than the morning tours.
One Dish Deep Dive
Spend the whole tour on one dish — laksa, for instance — tasting six different versions and learning why each one is different.
Neighbourhood Walk
Skip the tourist areas entirely. We take you to a residential neighbourhood where the food is made for neighbours, not visitors.
Celebration Tour
Birthday, anniversary, farewell dinner. We'll find the right stalls and add something memorable — a surprise dish, a toast, a story.
Team Experience
Your team just finished a conference and wants to do something together. We build an evening around real food, real neighbourhoods — with time to actually catch up. Works in KL and Penang.
Don't see what you're looking for? Tell us what you want — if you can describe it, we can probably build it.
A tour that didn't exist before
Penang · July 2024
A conference full of fisheries researchers wanted to eat what they study
The 21st International Fisheries Economics & Trade Conference brought researchers from 40 countries to Georgetown. A group of attendees reached out: they'd spent three days in conference rooms talking about aquatic food systems and wanted to actually handle one.
We took them to the wet market first thing in the morning — not to eat, but to shop. They moved through the fish stalls with the focused attention of people who understood exactly what they were looking at: threadfin, grouper, stingray. They bought for the whole group.
Then we drove inland to Balik Pulau. The tourists don't come this way. We visited a working belacan factory — fermented shrimp paste, the base of most Malaysian cooking — and the smell alone was worth the drive. A local restaurant cooked the fish they'd bought that morning. After lunch we walked a quiet fishing harbour before driving back to Georgetown.
The tour existed because they asked for it. We'd never run it before.

Common Questions
Tailored Tour FAQs
How is a tailored tour different from a private tour?
A private tour runs one of our existing routes just for your group. Same stalls, same guide — nobody else. A tailored tour is designed from scratch around what you want. New stops, different neighbourhoods, cooking demonstrations — whatever makes sense for your group. Tailored suits celebrations, return visitors, and teams who want something unique.
How much does a tailored tour cost?
It depends on what we build together — group size, route length, inclusions. Most tailored tours fall between RM 400 and RM 600 per person. We'll give you a quote after our first conversation, and there's no obligation until you confirm.
How far ahead should we book?
Two weeks is ideal — it gives your guide time to research and brief the stalls. We've pulled tailored tours together in 72 hours when needed, but the more lead time, the more tailored we can make it.
Can you handle dietary restrictions?
Absolutely. On a tailored tour we brief your guide and every stall in advance. Vegetarian, halal, allergies, strong dislikes — tell us when you enquire and we design the route around it.
What if we want something totally unusual?
Good. The WorldFish tour started with a group of researchers who wanted to shop at the wet market and cook their own fish. We'd never done that before. If you can describe it, we can probably build it. Reach out and tell us what you're thinking.
Do you do cooking classes?
Not in the traditional sense — but we can include cooking demonstrations at stalls, or arrange for your group to cook what you've bought at a local kitchen. It depends on what you want. Tell us and we'll see what's possible.
Can you handle team events after a conference?
That's actually what we do most. People fly in for a seminar or work session, it wraps at five, and they want to do something together that evening. We run these in both Kuala Lumpur and Penang. No team-building exercises — just your team, a guide who knows the neighbourhood, and food you'll still be talking about at the office. We make sure there's time for people to actually sit and talk — that's usually the part they appreciate most.
